LATEST BOOSTER'S MEETING MINUTES

Bourbon County Band Booster Meeting
September 15, 2008

The monthly booster meeting was opened by Sarah Auvenshine at 6:00 p.m. The Secretary’s Report was distributed and approved by common consent. The Treasurer’s Report was distributed by Blair Rule, discussed and approved by common consent.

If you owe for Fall Break hotel rooms, the bus trip or for hats, you need to pay ASAP. We need everyone to pay quickly so that we will have some money in the general fund. A plea was made to all band parents to consider helping with Bingo. We are giving away $20,000 each year by not selling pull tabs ourselves!

Bears: The bears are in and ready to be distributed. We made a $1,060 profit on the bears. The spirit cards will be available from October 7 to November 18. They are $10.00 each, giving a 50% profit. There will be a sign up sheet to sell the Spirit cards. Everyone should help with this fundraiser.

Mr. Hale said we will have t-shirts made soon. They will have some version of the head on them. There will be a sign up sheet for parents to buy a shirt when they become available. Some parents are interested in buying last year’s generic shirts. We will find out if that is possible.

James Arnold has a 16’ trailer with ramps that we could use at the contests if someone has 4 extra 15” tires. Please contact James if you can help with the tires.

The contest on Sept. 20 will be at Bryan Station High School in Lexington. The itinerary is in the band room and on the website. Students will meet at BCHS at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, please make sure your child has had lunch before they come to the band room. The guard will need to come about 11:00 to have their hair done before we leave.

The contest on Sept. 27 will be at Ballard High School. We play at 1:30 p.m.

The Hard Rock Theme Park was discussed. Several parents said they had heard it was not worth the money, therefore we decided not to visit the park. The kids will consequently have more free time on the beach!

Lisa Matthews thanked all parents who helped with the food. It went very smoothly!

Mrs. Hale would like to make a DVD of parents setting up for a contest: props, food, uniforms, etc. New band parents would receive the DVD so they can see what is involved and how they can contribute. Mrs. Hale has an article ready for Wednesday’s paper, complete with pictures by Pam Rule.

Motion to adjourn was made by Vicki Handy at 6:33 p.m., 2nd by Blair Rule. Motion carried.
